First sharpening off for new customers
Sharpness, measured.
Every knife is hand-finished, then scored on a BESS sharpness tester. The edge isn't done until the number proves it. Fayetteville, Arkansas.
1-2 business day turnaround. Also servicing scissors, mower blades, garden tools and more.
Measured, not guessed.
Most sharpening services hand your knife back, call it sharp, and that's the end of it. Crisp Edge puts a number on it instead: after finishing, every knife is tested on an Edge-On-Up BESS meter, and the score comes back with your knife. You see exactly what you're getting: no thumb tests, no take-my-word-for-it.
Edges are finished by hand. Depending on the tier you choose, that means a full grit progression on the grinder or freehand work across whetstones up to 12000 grit, followed by leather strops loaded as fine as a tenth of a micron. The result is an apex that cuts cleanly and holds up, matched to how the knife actually gets used.
Restaurants and commercial kitchens work differently, on a standing route with loaner knives so the line never stops. That is set out below.
Run by Mason Crisp
BS in applied mathematics, University of Arkansas '25. The math habit carries straight into the work: controlled angles, deliberate grit progressions, and a documented score for every edge instead of a guess. If it can be measured, it gets measured.
For restaurants and commercial kitchens
A dull line is a prep-speed problem and a safety problem, not a luxury one. Crisp Edge runs a standing route through Northwest Arkansas: I come to your kitchen on a fixed schedule, swap your knives for loaners, and bring them back sharpened and scored.
On a route
A booked visit every few weeks, scheduled in advance so it lands on your calendar instead of in the middle of service.
Loaner knives
A matched loaner set stays with you while yours are in the workshop. Prep never stops, and nobody works a shift on a dull blade.
One invoice
Monthly billing across every visit rather than paying at the door each time. Simpler for whoever keeps your books.
Volume pricing
Per-knife rates below the published list, set by how many knives you run and how often you want the route. Quoted for your kitchen.
A standard you can check
Every knife comes back with its BESS score. You can see the standard being held visit to visit instead of taking anyone’s word for it.
More than one kitchen
Groups running several locations go on a single account, a single schedule, and a single invoice.
Service tiers
Three finishes for plain-edge knives, from a clean working edge to a full mirror polish. Every tier comes back with the finished edge scored on the BESS tester.

Add-ons
- Blade refreshBrings back a clean, even satin finish on the blade faces. Light scratches, haze, and surface staining are worked out through three graded Scotch-Brite belts, then finished by hand with fine abrasive paper. Knives only, on top of any tier. Not for Damascus, hammered, coated, or etched-logo blades, because it would remove the pattern; I check every knife before starting.+ per knife
Turnaround: 1-2 business days. From the day your items reach the workshop.
Mail-in orders have a minimum. A smaller mail-in order is simply billed at the minimum. Drop-off and local pickup have no minimum.
Heavy edge repair adds per item. That means an edge needing roughly of steel or more taken off it: deep chips, a broken tip, a badly rolled or mis-ground edge. On large or thick-bladed tools the repair charge can be higher. You get the number before any work starts.
